A Survey On The Use Of Instagram As A Medium To Improve Students’ Vocabulary
This research aimed to investigate the use of Instagram as a medium to improve students’ vocabulary, the way students improve their vocabulary through Instagram. The subjects of this study were the second-year students of the English Study Program, Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, Universitas Riau (2020 batch). This study used a descriptive quantitative research method with the cluster random sampling technique which means that the writer chooses a sample randomly to represent the whole population. There are 114 populations and 39 students will be the sample. 39 students completed the questionnaire. This study showed the kind of activities in Instagram that are commonly done by students to improve vocabulary, such as adding references and information about vocabulary, reading English posts repeatedly, memorizing the new vocabulary, seeking English vocabulary, visiting English accounts and doing speaking practice through Instagram’s features. The features of Instagram that are commonly used by students to Improve their English vocabulary such as photo feature, caption, quiz, and video feature.
