Kajian Potensi Dan Pengembangan Ekowisata Bahari Di Pantai Pasir Jambak Padang

Maritime ecotourism is a tourism activity based on naval aspect residing
at coastal water area and sea to conserve the environment and to repair the
prosperity of local community. Pasir Jambak Beach is one of areas that has the
pontential to be developed to become a maritime ecotourism object in Padang
City. The purpose of this research was to find out the main maritime ecotourism
object owned by Pasir Jambak Beach, support capability, and its development
strategy.
This research had been carried out in July – October 2022 at Pasir
Jambak beach, Pasir Nan Tigo Urban Village, Koto Tangah Sub District, Padang
City, West Sumatera Province. The method used was survey method with
observation on the tourism objects existed at Pasir Jambak beach, measuring the
area large which could be utilized and interview with the tourism businessmen.
The data collected and observed were primary data and secondary data. The
determination of observation station and data collection employed purposive
sampling method. The research respondents consisted of local communities,
tourists, tourism businessmen, and related stakeholders. The determination of
respondents for interview was conducted by using purposive sampling method.
Especially for the tourists was conducted through accidental sampling method.
The research results showed that the parameter of water quality of Pasir
Jambak beach has fulfilled the existed standard, such as the decree of Ministry of
Living Environment Number 51 Year 2004 and conformity matrix for beach
tourism. In other words the beach fulfills the requirement to be made as the object
of maritime ecotourism.
The main attraction of Pasir Jambak beach was the beauty of beach sight
with clear water, rug of clean and soft sand, and sunset phenomenon. This showed
that Pasir Jambak beach has fulfilled the requirement to be a maritime
destination namely 3 S (Sun, Sea, and Sand). Total supporting capability which
could be accepted physically from Pasir Jambak beach was 26.590 people per
day with different time and activities.
Based on SWOT analysis, the ecotourism development strategies of Pasir
Jambak beach were: (1) Maritime tourism development with ecotourism concept,
(2) Increasing tourism promotion and improvement of human resources quality
through education and training, (3) Forming special team for activity monitoring
of maritime ecotourism development, developing the potential of research and
conservation, (4) conducting socialization about the importance of environmental
conservation, pollution danger, natural disaster management, and creative
industry development.
