Aplikasi Manipulasi Fotoperiod Dan Pakan Yang Berbeda Untuk Pertumbuhan Dan Kelangsungan Hidup Benih Ikan Lele Dumbo (Clarias Gariepinus)
Clarias gariepinus is a carnivorous nocturnal fish that has been
commonly cultured. As growth of the fish was strongly affected by the
environmental condition as well as food availability and food quality, the
environmental condition manipulation and provision of specific food may improve
the growth of the fish. The feed provided may also affects the nutrient content of
the fish meat. To understand the survival and growth of fish that was treated with
manipulation photoperiod and fed with maggot, a study was conducted in
September to November 2022. There were 2 factors, photoperiod duration and
feed types, namely natural photoperiod (A1), 18 hours dark (A2) and 24 hours
dark (A3), while the feed provided were commercial pellet (B1) and black soldier
fly Hermetia illucens maggot (B2). The feed was given ad libitum, 4 times/ day
(once/6 hours). The treatments applied were the combination of those factors,
namely A1B1, A1B2, A2B1, A2B2, A3B1 and A3B2 with 3 replications/
treatments. The fish used in this study was fingerlings of C. batracus (16 cm TL,
30 gr BW). The fish was reared in the circular plastic tanks filled with 70L water,
100 fishes/m3. The containers for natural photoperiod were placed under
transparent plastic tent. The 18 hours dark containers were placed under dark
tarp tent completed with light bulb that was set for 6 hours light, while the
containers for continuous dark treatment were placed under dark colored tarp
tent. Fish samplings were conducted once/ week for a 4 week period. Parameters
measured were total length, body weight, survival, HIS (Hepato Somatic Index),
VSI (Viscera Somatic Index) and nutrient content of the fish. Results shown that
the best result was provided by the B3A2 treatment (continuous dark with maggot
feed). By the end of experiment, the fish was 59.70 g BW; 18.56 cm TL, 2.01%/day
specific growth rate,100% survival, 0.23% IHS, 0.20% IVS . The nutrient
content of the A3B2 fish was also the highest, with 18.97% protein, 8.68% fat,
0,57 NNFE, 0.73% fiber, 1.54% ash, and 68,38% water. The worst result was
provided by the fish that was reared under natural photoperiod and fed with
commercial pellets (B1A1). By the end of the experiment, they were 38.60 BW,
17.03 cm TL, the specific growth rate 0.90%/ day, survival 100%, 0.16% IHS,
0.15 % IVS and the nutrient content of the flesh was 10.41% protein, 4.60 % fat,
4,12 % BETN, 1.17% fiber, 1.26% ash and 80..86 % water. Water quality during
rearing supports the growth of Clarias garipinus catfish, namely temperatures
ranging from 27,3-28,1oC, pH 7,3-7,5, and DO 4,09-4,95 mg/L. Based on data
obtained, it can be concluded that rearing fish in continuous dark and fed with
maggot perform the best growth as well as the higher nutrient content in the flesh.
