Perbaikan Sifat Fisik Tanah Inseptisol Yang Diaplikasikan Cacing Tanah Pada Berbagai Komposisi Mulsa Organik Di Kebun Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.)
ABSTRACT
The purpose of study is to know the main effect of various organic mulch compositions and earthworms and their interactions on changes in the physical properties of oil palm-planted inceptisols and to obtain the best combination of various organic mulch and earthworm compositions in improving the physical properties of oil palm-planted inceptisols. This research is an experiment using a randomized block design (RBD). The first factor is the organic mulch composition which consists of 3 levels, namely: M1 (MB, EFB, PKS = 1:1:1), M2 (MB, EFB, PKS = 1:2:1), M3 (MB, EFB, PKS = 1:1:2). The second factor was giving earthworms which consisted of 2 levels, namely C0: without giving earthworms, C1: giving earthworms at a density of 65 individuals.m-2. The parameters observed were soil bulk density, soil particle density, total soil pore space, soil water content, permeability, and soil infiltration. The results showed that the interaction of organic mulch composition and earthworms had a significant effect on soil infiltration. The composition of organic mulch has a significant effect on soil bulk density, total soil pore space, soil permeability, and soil infiltration. Giving earthworms a significant effect on all observation parameters. The combination of M2 organic mulch composition (MB, EFB, PKS = 1:2:1) with the addition of earthworms (earthworm density 65 individuals.m-2) produced better soil physical properties compared to other combinations, but not different from the mulch composition organic M3 (MB, EFB, PKS = 1:1:2) with earthworms (earthworm density 65 individuals.m-2).
Keywords: Organic mulch, earthworms, Inceptisol, and oil palm.
