Given the importance of teacher performance in education, efforts are
needed to improve teacher performance. Teachers are professional jobs, because
to be able to become a teacher one must meet certain requirements. Professional
teachers are teachers who know deeply about what is being taught, are able to
teach it effectively, efficiently, and have strong personalities. Professional
teachers are the determining factor in the quality education process. Teachers
must be able to find their identity and actualize it according to the abilities and
rules of professional teachers. The teacher is tasked with directing students in
achieving learning objectives, updating and mastering subject matter through
various sources. Professional teacher performance is expected to be one step in
realizing success in the world of education. Teachers as a key role in efforts to
improve the quality of education, teachers are at the central point of any
educational reform effort that is directed at quality changes.
Professional teachers are required to have a code of ethics, namely certain
norms as a guide that is recognized and appreciated by the community. Teachers
who have special autonomy can regulate themselves, have an independent attitude
in carrying out their duties. Performance measurement needs to be done to find
out whether during the implementation of activities or work there are deviations
from the predetermined plan. Apart from increasing the professional competence
of teachers, efforts to improve teacher performance can also be done through
optimizing infrastructure and improving the work ethic of teachers. Optimization
is also interpreted as a measure where all needs can be met from the activities
carried out. In general, optimization is the search for the best value from the
available functions in a given context.
Educational facilities are equipment and supplies that are directly used in
the teaching and learning process, such as buildings, classrooms, tables, chairs,
and teaching media. Educational infrastructure is facilities that indirectly support
the teaching process, such as yards, gardens, school gardens, and roads leading
to schools. If this infrastructure is used directly for the teaching and learning
process, such as a school garden to teach biology or the school yard being a
sports field, then the component will change its position into an educational
facility. When infrastructure is functioned as a facility, it means that the
infrastructure is a basic component. However, if the infrastructure is independent
or separate, it means that its position is to support the facilities. Then the work
ethic is the totality of one's personality in expressing, seeing, believing, and giving
meaning to something, which encourages him to act and achieve optimal work so
that the pattern of relationships between humans and themselves can be well

established. A person's work ethic is closely related to personality, behavior and
character. A high work ethic should be owned by every employee or leader in an
institution, this really requires hard work and high commitment from every
employee, otherwise the organization will find it difficult to develop, and win the
competition in seizing its market share.
The research approach used in this research is a quantitative research
approach. This quantitative approach is used by researchers for research on the
effect of optimizing infrastructure and work ethic on the professional performance
of Arts and Culture teachers in Pekanbaru City Senior High School. The research
instrument used for data collection is a questionnaire. In this study, there are
three research variables, namely two independent variables (independent
variables) consisting of optimizing infrastructure (X1), and work ethic (X2), and
one dependent variable, namely Professional Performance of Cultural Arts
Teachers (Y). The population in this study were all teachers of Cultural Arts in
Pekanbaru city high school, amounting to 87 people then the sample in this study
were 47 Cultural Arts teachers in Pekanbaru city high school.
The data collection used is by using a questionnaire technique or a list of
questions made in a simple form with the closed question method given to the
respondents so that they obtain data on optimizing infrastructure, work ethic and
professional performance of Arts and Culture teachers. Then the data analysis
technique used in this research is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential
statistical analysis. Processing of data for descriptive statistical analysis in this
study using Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 22 for Windows.
The results of this study indicate that there is a significant and positive
influence between the variables of optimizing infrastructure on the Professional
Performance of Teachers of Arts and Culture in Pekanbaru City High School.
This means that, the better the optimization of infrastructure carried out by the
teacher, the better his professional performance as a teacher will be. Teachers
who have good teacher professional performance can be determined by their
ability to optimize the infrastructure provided.
Then obtained a significant and positive influence between work ethic on the
Professional Performance of Arts and Culture Teachers in Pekanbaru City High
School. This means that the better the teacher's work ethic, the better the teacher's
performance.
Teachers who have good professional performance can be determined by
their work ethic as teachers. And found a significant and positive influence
between the variables of optimizing infrastructure and work ethic on the
Professional Performance of Teachers of Arts and Culture in Pekanbaru City
High School. significant and positive influence between work ethic on the
Professional Performance of Arts and Culture Teachers in Pekanbaru City High
School. This means that the better the teacher's work ethic, the better the teacher's

determined by their work ethic as teachers.
