Penentuan Rasio Pencampuran Sludge Dan Screen Reject Sebagai Bahan Bakar Power Boiler #3
ABSTRACT
PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper as one of the largest Indonesia’s pulp and paper factory, produces screen reject pulp waste from the Fiberline Department, and sludge from the Effluent Treatment Department in large quantities. Both types of waste are reused as fuel in the Power boiler unit (Steam Power Plant unit) to reduce landfill’s heap. Power boiler #3 uses biomass dominance fuel with a mixture of bark, empty fruit bunches, sludge, screen reject pulp, and also coal. Sludge and pulp screen reject fuels have characteristics of moisture content, calorific value, ash content, and sodium and potassium levels with a lower specifications compared to the other types of fuel. In this study, the effect of the mixture ratio between sludge fuel and pulp screen reject in Power Boiler #3 was investigated on fuel characteristics by varying the ratio into 5 variations, such as 1:1; 1:2 ; 1:3 ; 2:1 ; 3:1. The results showed that the ratio of 1:3 as the ratio contained less sludge had a more optimum effect on the resulting moisture content, calorific value, and ash content. The 3:1 ratio which contained less screen reject produces a minimum Na and K content compared to other variations.
