Studi Komparatif Kondisi Dan Luas Tutupan Terumbu Karang Di Kawasan Konservasi Perairan Daerah Kota Padang
ABSTRACT
Coral reefs have a high conservation value because they have highly protected biological species such as protecting aquatic ecosystems, sources of nuftah plasma, while other functions of coral reefs include protecting coastal ecosystems, tourist attractions, having high benefits for the wider community. This study aims to analyze and compare the condition and cover of coral reef in the Regional Marine Protected Area located in Padang City, West Sumatera by using data on the proportion of cover and to determine the area of coral reefs by utilizing remote sensing Sentinel 2A satellite imagery. The data collection method was carried out by using Underwater Photo Transect (UPT), then analyzed by Coral Point Count with Excel extentions (CPCe). In addition, Sentinel 2A Imagery was used to prepare maps of the distribution and extent of coral reefs by processing area data in Microsoft Excel. The results showed that Station A (Sikuai Island) had live coral cover coverage of 16.20%, Station B (Sirandah Island) had a coverage of 41.67%, and Station C (Pasumpahan Island) had 23.80%. Based on the results of image classification, the area of live coral reefs from 2018 to 2022 decreased by 0.72 ha, the area of sea grass decreased by 0.02 ha, and dead coral reefs decreased by 2.79 ha. Overall, the decrease of coral reef coverage from 2018 until 2022 was 0.08 ha.
