The Correlation Between Students’ Habit In Watching English Movies And Pronunciation Ability At Eighth Grade Of SMPN 1 Bukit Batu
This research aimed at findings the correlation between students' habit in watching English movies and their pronunciation ability. It was conducted at SMPN 1 Bukit Batu. The background of conducting this research is to see how the possibility of students' habit in watching English movies influenced students' pronunciation ability. This research applied a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. Cluster Random Sampling was used to select a group to represent the sample from this research. The sample for this research consisted of 30 students. The data was collected using a questionnaire and a pronunciation test. To see if there was a correlation between the two variables, the scores from both instruments were measured and analyzed using SPSS 23. The result indicated that there was a correlation, with an index value of 0.457 for the correlation coefficient (rxy), (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In conclusion, the two variables had a moderately significant correlation. According to the results, the researcher believes that the more students watch to English movies, the greater their pronunciation ability will be.
