Abstrack
This research was conducted in December 2022 in Sei Tualang Raso sub-district, Tanjung
City Hall, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra Province with the aim of comparing indicators of
fishermen's welfare before and during the Covid-19 pandemic and analyzing fishermen's
household strategies to respond to changes in welfare in Sei Tualang Raso sub-district,
Tanjung City The Asahan Regency Office of North Sumatra Province used a descriptive
method with a qualitative approach and the determination of informants was determined by
snowball sampling technique. The results showed that there were significant changes in
indicators in fishing communities including indicators of income, household
consumption/expenditure, children's education and public health. Responding to changes by
looking for additional work, encouraging wives to work, teaching wives to be frugal by
reducing food portions, , reducing unnecessary needs, reducing smoking, and reducing going
out of the house.
