The Effect Of Jigsaw Strategy On The Speaking Ability Of The Tenth Grade Students Of MAN 1 Pekanbaru
Jigsaw is a strategy for learning speaking in groups and discussing to
increase students' speaking knowledge. The aim of this pre-experimental study was to
find out whether there was a significant effect of the jigsaw strategy on the speaking
knowledge of MAN 1 Pekanbaru students. Applying pre-test and post-test design. Cluster
Random Sampling was used to select a group to represent the sample from this study. The
sample consisted of 25 students. Both pre-test and post- test are used in the speaking test.
The t-test formula is used to find out the difference between the pre-test and post-test, as
well as to test the hypothesis. After analyzing the data, it was obtained a score of
significance in the experimental class for 0.000 or sig < 0.05. It can be concluded that
the criteria in the experimental class can be Ha is accepted which means the jigsaw
method is effective to improve students' speaking ability. Based on the research results, it
is recommended that the jigsaw strategy for speaking can improve students in developing
their speaking skills.
