Hubungan Kondisi Tutupan Terumbu Karang Dengan Kelimpahan Megabentos Di Pulau Setan Sumatera Barat
Abstrak
This research was conducted in March 2023, located in the waters of Setan
Island, West Sumatra. The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation between
coral reef condition and the abundance of megabenthos. The survey method was
employed for this research. The coral reef cover was observed using the Underwater
Photo Transect (UPT) method, while the abundance of megabenthos was assessed
using the Benthos Belt Transect (BBT) method. Observations were conducted at
four stations at depths of 3 and 6 meters, with a transect length of 50 meters. The
average percentage of live coral reef cover on Setan Island was found to be 18.87%.
The abundance of megabenthos obtained was 15,600 individuals per hectare.
Regression analysis revealed a strong positive correlation between live coral reefs
and megabenthos, with an R2 value of 0,5527, it means that the percentage of live
coral has an influence on megabenthos of 55,27%, (R2 = 0,5527).
Keywords: Coral cover, Megabenthos, Setan Island.
