Upscaling Proses Pra-Karbonisasi Biomassa Bahan Kayu Untuk Aplikasi Superkapasitor
ABSTRACT
The upscaling of pre-carbonized wood biomass processes for supercapacitor applications has been completed and tested. The modified furnace was used as an instrument for pre-carbonizing Kulim wood crab biomass for 1,5 hours. Modified furnaces were found to be more effective in terms of time, effort, power and results obtained as well as lower production costs. The carbon then goes through several stages and is activated using KOH activator with a ratio of 1:1. Physical analysis through XRD, SEM-EDS, FTIR, and N2 Gas Absorption tests was carried out and followed by electrochemical analysis through CV and GCD tests. The results of the physical test of the activated carbon of Kulim wood crab through the XRD test confirmed the semi-crystalline nature of the carbon material which was characterized by a gentle diffraction peak at an angle of 22,1° and 44,6°, SEM-EDS confirmed that the most element of material was carbon with hierarchical microstructure size 39-118 nm, FTIR showed the presence of O-H, C≡C, C=O, and C-H functional groups, and N2 Gas Absorption test results gave a specific surface area of carbon of 1070,89 m2g-1. The resulting carbon electrode was confirmed to have an amorphous structure and to have a specific capacitance of 163 F/g tested using a duck egg shell membrane separator.
