Pengaruh Petroleum Hidrokarbon Terhadap Klorofil Daun Eichhornia Crassipes Dan Azolla Microphylla
ABSTRACT
Coastal areas are very prone to pollution, one of the causes of damage to coastal
ecosystems is oil spills. Various control efforts have been made, chemical control
of water pollution has the potential to leave residues for ecosystems. To avoid this,
efforts to control environmentally friendly pollutants are needed by utilizing aquatic
plants, namely phytoremediation. Eichhornia crassipes and Azolla microphylla are
phytoremediator plants, however, at certain levels of pollution, these two plants do
not necessarily adapt well. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research related to
the effect of petroleum hydrocarbons on these plants in salinity media. The research
method was an experiment using petroleum hydrocarbons as pollutants with E.
crassipes and A. microphylla as phytoremediator plants and sea water as a plant
medium. In this study there were variations in the concentration of different
petroleum hydrocarbons in the saline water media grown by E. crassipes and A.
microphylla with an interval of 14 days of observation. Petroleum hydrocarbons
correlated with leaf chlorophyll of E. crassipes and A. microphylla on day 7 (R2 E.
crassipes 0.9031 and R2 A. microphylla 0.8791) and 14th (R2 E. crassipes 0.8902
and R2 A. microphylla 0.8052) including very strong criteria. Relationship of
petroleum hydrocarbons to leaf chlorophyll of E. crassipes and A. microphylla on
the 7th (r E. crassipes -0.95 and r A. microphylla -0.93) and 14th (r E. crassipes -
0.94 and r A. microphylla -0.89) is strong because the r value of the plant is more
than 0.81. The higher absorption of petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants by E.
crassipes and A. microphylla plants as phytoremediators will affect the reduction
of leaf chlorophyll from these plants. The reduction of petroleum hydrocarbon
pollutants affected the chlorophyll content of the test plant leaves causing the green
color of the plant leaves to turn yellow.
