Hubungan Kandungan Nitrat, Fosfat, Dan Silikat Pada Sedimen Permukaan Dengan Kelimpahan Diatom Epipelik Di Zona Intertidal Kota Dumai
ABSTRACT
The study was conducted in March 2023 at four stations: Station 1 (PAB), Station 2 (Muara Sungai Mesjid), Station 3 (Bangsal Aceh), and Station 4 (Pantai Koneng). The aim of the study was to analyze the levels of nitrate, phosphate, and silicate, identify species and abundance of epipelagic diatoms, and evaluate the relationship between nitrate, phosphate, and silicate levels and epipelagic diatom abundance. The survey method was used, and samples were collected using purposive sampling. Nitrate, phosphate, and silicate samples were taken from the surface sediment up to a depth of 0-5 cm. Epipelagic diatom samples were collected at a similar depth, and a sediment layer of approximately 1 cm thickness was obtained. The results of the study indicated that nitrate levels ranged from 4.66-8.94 mg/l, phosphate levels ranged from 5.46-6.56 mg/l, and silicate levels ranged from 19.93-27.96 mg/l. A total of 17 species of epipelagic diatoms were identified, with abundance ranging from 13,798.24-23,457 ind/cm2. The relationship between nitrate levels and epipelagic diatom abundance was classified as strong, while the relationship between phosphate levels and epipelagic diatom abundance was classified as very weak, and the relationship between silicate levels and epipelagic diatom abundance was classified as weak.
