ABSTRACT
The research conducted in Sukajadi Village, Dumai City aims to determine the motivating factors for fujoshi to like homosexual romantic fiction or Boys Love and to find out the dramaturgical practices carried out by fujoshi in people's lives as heterosexual women. The method used in this study was qualitative with a phenomenological approach, the subjects in this study consisted of five people selected using the snowball sampling technique. Data collection techniques use observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. The theory used is the theory of Dramaturgy according to Erving Goffman. The results of this study can be concluded that the internal factors that encourage fujoshi to like BL are curiosity, boredom with straight romance stories, and dislike of female characters in straight romance stories. While the external factors are a diverse media intake, a large selection of stories, BL does not make women sexual objects, realistic stories, handsome players. The dramaturgical practice that fujoshi does in their daily lives is to show the identity of fujoshi on the front stage through Instagram with the personal front they do which is assisted by appearance and manner, besides that they also manage impressions with a setting. While the identity of heterosexual women in the backstage area by presenting the best version of themselves such as married, attended school, and college; carry out the norms of society and religion according to its rules, and they will also pretend not to know about BL and fujoshi, this they do in order to avoid the negative stigma of society against them.
