ABSTRACT
Garbage is never separated from daily life activities because every individual or group will produce waste. Garbage is leftovers or items that are no longer used that come from daily human activities or natural processes in solid form that can be decomposed or not decomposed. Waste management is an activity of collecting, transporting, sorting, final processing of waste, recycling or disposal of waste materials or activities that are systematic, comprehensive and continuous which include reducing and handling waste. The problem of piling up waste still occurs frequently in Pangkalan Kerinci Subdistrict as a result of the lack of performance and the lack of assertiveness from the Environmental Service of Pelalawan Regency in waste management in Pangkalan Kerinci Subdistrict. This study aims to determine waste management in Pangkalan Kerinci District. This study uses descriptive research methods according to the concept of management theory. In data collection methods, researchers used interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the research show that waste management in Pangkalan Kerinci district is still not optimal. It can be seen from the lack of waste management which results in a lot of garbage piling up on the side of the road or the road and behind the new market. As for the inhibiting factors in waste management in Pangkalan Kerinci Subdistrict, namely, the operating hours of waste transportation are not fixed, the lack of strict law enforcement on waste sanctions and the lack of TPS provided. This is due to the lack of firm local government and awareness from the people in Pangkalan Kerinci District so that waste management in Pangkalan Kerinci District is not maximized.
