Prarancangan Pabrik Pembuatan Fenol Dari Benzena Dan Propilena Dengan Proses Uop Llc Kapasitas 10.000 Ton/Tahun Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Fixedbed (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Phenol or hydroxybenzene is an organic compound with the molecular formula C6H5OH, has a molecular weight of 94.11 g / mol and is hygroscopic. Phenol compounds have a melting point of 41 oC and a boiling point of 181.9 oC. Phenol has a limited solubility in water which is 8.3 g / 100 mL. The process of making phenol starts from the alkylation of benzene with propylene to cumene using an aluminum chloride catalyst or phosphoric acid as an alkylation catalyst. Then cumene is oxidized to cumene hydroperoxide. Cumene hydroperoxide that is formed quickly decomposes into phenol and acetone by a strong acid catalyst in a stirred vessel. In this process, the decomposition reaction of cumene hydroperoxide into phenol and acetone takes place at a temperature of 70-180 °C at a pressure of >1.5 atm with a process yield of 98%. This process takes place at low pressure and temperature so that the process is safer and faster. And the plan to establish a phenol factory was chosen in Pelintung, Medang Kampai, Kabupaten Dumai, Provinsi Riau. Where the distance from this Phenol Factory to Dumai City is 32.9 km southwest of Dumai City. The capacity of the phenol plant is planned to produce 10,000 tons / year with 330 working days in 1 year. Based on the results of economic analysis, this Phenol Plant is feasible to be established with a BEP value of 40%, ROI of 30.41%, and IRR of 22.74%, PBP for 2.5 years.
