Hubungan Patron Klien Antara Touke Dengan Nelayan Di Kelurahan Bagan Barat Kecamatan Bangko Kabupaten Rokan Hilir Provinsi Riau
Abstrack
The relationship of a patron-client is a relationship based on reciprocity between two people who have different socioeconomic statuses that is specially established or on the basis of mutual benefit, as well as giving and receiving. This relationship is intertwined with fisherman and skipper. This research was conducted in West Bagan, Bangko, Rokan Hilir, Riau Province. The goal is to describe the social and economic relationship of fisherman and skipper. The theory that used to analyze this problem is the patron client theory that disclosed by James C. Scott. Exchange theory by Peter M. Blau. The method used on this research is survey study method. Retrieval of data is using interview techniques, documentation and direct observation with fisherman and skipper. Data analysis techniques uses Miles and Huberman's interactive data analysis model, namely data reductions, data display, and conclution. The result of this research showed the relationship of patron-client. The relationship of patron and client economic between fisherman and skipper occurred a good relationship of patron-client according to patron-client theory expressed by James C. Scott. Exchange theory by Peter M. Blau. The fishing businesses run by fishermen is greatly assisted by the skipper in terms of loans for repairing ship and fishing gear, loaning for fuel oil and household needs when fisherman weren't at sea. The socio relationship of fisherman and skipper are very good. Both side give trust, help in daily life, and respect to each other. Skipper provide assistance in the form of tuition assistance for children, celebration assistance, accident assistance, and Eid al-Fitr assistance.
