This study aims to explain and reveal the effect of reward and work environment together toward teachers’ job satisfaction at Cluster III State Elementary School Tuah Madani Subdistrict Pekanbaru City. The background of the problems in this study is that the teachers of Cluster III State Elementary School Tuah Madani Subdistrict Pekanbaru City do not yet have high job satisfaction as can be seen from the income or salary received does not match the teacher's workload, the supervision carried out by the headmaster is not evenly distributed, cooperation among fellow teachers is still low, and the principal is not firm in implementing disciplinary rules. From some of these phenomena can result in low teachers’ job satisfaction so that it will result in teachers’ performance. Teachers with low job satisfaction will certainly not be motivated to work so they work lazily, are not disciplined in carrying out their duties, and do not feel fully responsible for their work.
The type of this research is descriptive quantitative research and survey method with ex post facto techniques. The data collection technique used is questionnaires with 100 respondents from 133 teachers in Cluster III State Elementary School Tuah Madani Subdistrict Pekanbaru City who were randomly selected as a sample using the Taro Yamane formula. The research method was carried out, namely the respondents gave responses to the questionnaire in the form of a Likert scale consisting of five answer option namely Strongly Agree, Agree, less agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. Data analysis used is descriptive and inferential statistics.
Based on data analysis, it was obtained that a positive and significant reward effect toward teachers’ job satisfaction at Cluster III State Elementary School Tuah Madani Subdistrict Pekanbaru City was 22.5%, while the remaining 77.5% was determined by other factors that were not part of this study. Thus it can be concluded that the effect of the reward variable toward teachers’ job satisfaction has a low interpretation or influence; Furthermore, the positive and significant effect of the work environment toward teachers’ job satisfaction at Cluster III State Elementary School Tuah Madani Subdistrict Pekanbaru City was 19.3%, while the remaining 80.7% was determined by other factors that were not part of this study. Thus it can be concluded, that the effect of work environment variables toward teachers’ job satisfaction has an interpretation or influence in the very low category; and obtained a positive and significant effect of reward and work environment toward teachers’ job satisfaction at Cluster III State Elementary School Tuah Madani Subdistrict Pekanbaru City which was 34.2%, while the remaining 65.8% was determined by other factors that were not part of this study.
Thus it can be concluded that the positive and significant influence of reward and work environment toward teachers’ job satisfaction has an interpretation or influence in the low category.
