This high-heritage rice field dispute occurred between Rusyda Tamin and Ahmad (biological son of the deceased Ruqayah, elder brother of Rusyda) of the Koto Tribe in Pasa Rabaa Nagari Panyalaian, X Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency. At the beginning of this dispute occurred since Ruqayah died in 1996, Ahmad, the biological son of the deceased Ruqayah, began to control the rice fields left by his mother. The rice fields are high inheritances passed down from generation to generation to girls. While Ibu Ahmad (Ruqayah) still has a surviving female parents and a biological sister named Rusyda. In 1998 Rusyda's mother (Lamuna) followed the divine presence, leaving behind her only daughter, Rusyda.
A similar case in one race was also experienced by the Yeti. For many years, Yeti has never received the produce of his rice field that has been inherited by his biological parents (Zahara, deceased). His rice field was completely controlled by the son (Herman) of his mother's brother. The settlement that has been done by the Chief of the Clan or Ninik Mamak is in deliberation to decide that: "The son of the mother can enjoy the high inheritance as long as he (the son) is alive".
The research used in this study is a type of sociological (empirical) research, which is meant by sociological (empirical) legal research, which is an effort to see the influence of the enactment of law on people's lives, because in this study the author directly conducts research at the location or place under study to provide a complete and clear picture of the problem under study. This study is descriptive, because in empirical studies the world is das sein (in reality).
The reason Ninik Mamak decided that the men could get the high heritage of the Koto Tribe in Pasa Rabaa Nagari Panyalaian, X Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency was that Ninik Mamak thought that Ahmad and Herman were still biological children of the Koto Tribe female descendants in Pasa Rabaa Nagari Panyalaian, X Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency; Consideration of Social factors.; and Consideration of Economic factors. Ninik Mamak, in this case Datuak Majolelo finally gave a permanent decision on the case of Rusyda Tamin and Yeti. That is, Ahmad and Herman were allowed to take the principle of benefit and management as long as Ahmad and Herman were alive. It must not be sold and mortgaged. If Ahmad and Herman each died, automatically the rice fields in the form of high heritage treasures of the Koto Tribe in Pasa Rabaa Nagari Panyalaian, X Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency returned to Bundo Kanduang, the Koto Tribe in Pasa Rabaa Nagari, Panyalaian, X Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency.
