Pengaruh Model Pbl Berbantuan Metode Giving Question And Getting Answer Terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Kelas Xi SMAN 4 Pekanbaru
ABSTRACT
The world of education is currently faced with the challenges of the 21st Century, with the conditions of science and technology increasingly developing. For this reason, the education system in Indonesia must be able to prepare students who have 21st century competencies in order to face global competition. One of the 21st century competencies that must be mastered by students is to become individuals who think critically. In learning Biology, the ability to think critically is very important to be developed and mastered by students to serve as a provision in facing challenges and obstacles in the future.
According to the Class XI Biology Teacher at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru, the learning process that takes place in the classroom is still not optimal in developing students' critical thinking skills. It can be seen based on the achievement of interpretation indicators by 65%, analysis indicators by 58%, evaluation indicators by 67%, inference indicators by 63%, explanation indicators by 62%, and self-regulation indicators by 61%. During this time, the Biology learning process took place using the Discovery Learning model with the application of lecture, discussion, and question and answer methods. In learning Biology, Reproductive System material is considered important to learn, because knowing the importance of reproductive organs will help make students aware of how important it is to maintain the health of reproductive organs.
Based on the above background, to anticipate the problem, an appropriate learning model and method is needed so that it can play a role in improving students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model assisted by Giving Question and Getting Answer method on critical thinking skills of students in class XI SMAN 4 Pekanbaru.
The type of research used is Quasi Experiment (pseudo experiment) with research design that is pretest-posttest control group design. This research was conducted in class XI of SMAN 4 Pekanbaru in April-June 2023. The population in this study included all students of class XI IPA SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. The sampling technique used was random sampling. Based on the results of determining the sample, XI IPA 1 class was obtained as an experimental class which will be taught with PBL model assisted by Giving Question and Getting Answer method and XI IPA 2 class as a control class which will be taught with Discovery Learning model. The research parameters include critical thinking skills which include 6 indicators, namely interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The data collection techniques used were critical thinking ability test questions and critical thinking ability observation sheets.
Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T-Test test, the Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000, this shows that the calculation result is ≤ 0.05, so H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. These results are supported based on data from the observation of critical thinking skills during learning, in the control class, an average is obtained which is classified as quite critical with a value of 58.4%, while in the experimental class, a value of 65.2% is obtained which is classified as critical. Based on the results of data analysis through pretest-posttest and observation sheets, it was found that the results of students' critical thinking skills in the experimental class that applied the PBL model assisted by the Giving Question and Getting Answer method obtained higher average results than the control class. The conclusion of this study is that the use of PBL model assisted by Giving Question and Getting Answer method has a significant effect on the critical thinking ability of students of class XI SMAN 4 Pekanbaru.
