Variasi Konsentrasi Zinc Chloride (ZnCl2) Sebagai Aktivator Arang Aktif Dari Kulit Buah Ular Padangsimpuan
This study aimed to obtain the best zinc chloride (ZnCl2) activator concentration in the production of activated charcoal from padangsidimpuan snake fruit peel. The study was conducted experimentally using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of six treatments and three replications. The treatment in this study was the ZnCl2 activator concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30%. Observational data obtained were analyzed statistically, using variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) at 5% level. The results of the variance test showed that the different concentrations of ZnCl2 activator significantly affected the moisture content, ash content, fixed carbon content, volatile matter content, and iodine absorption. The best treatment in this study was the activated charcoal from padangsidimpuan snake fruit peel which was activated using 30% ZnCl2 activator. Analysis of yield value 62.29%, moisture content 7.15%, ash content 8,32%, volatile matter content 3.96%, fixed carbon content 80.56% and iodine absorption value 960.25 mg.g-1.
