Perancangan Oceanarium Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Biomimikri Di Pekanbaru

Pekanbaru City is one of the areas with high potential in the tourism sector. This area is quite strategic because it is located near the port and international airport, which is a transit point from Malaysia and is geographically crossed by the Siak River which is a transportation route for the community's economic traffic. This makes tourism one of the development sectors that continues to be developed by the Government. Not only strategic, the area through which the Siak River and several other tributaries pass also has a diversity of aquatic biota. Unfortunately, quite a few people have minimal knowledge of the richness of these waters, which means that people do not have the awareness to care for and preserve them, resulting in the condition of the waters becoming unkempt. The lack of supporting facilities to convey learning and related water resources to the community is one of several causes of ignorance of public information. Therefore, to increase the development of Pekanbaru City's tourist attractions as well as educate the public about aquatic life, a place was designed which has the aim of being a center for education and recreation of aquatic biota so that there is public awareness to care for it, namely an oceanarium center by applying a biomimicry approach. Biomimicry is a theory that interprets nature as a model and measuring tool in terms of design references. Biomimicry that uses nature as a model is a source of inspiration for application in an aquarium plan. This design uses a shape transformation method taken from one of the characteristics of marine biota as the concept. The resulting design is an oceanarium facility whose building design combines the characteristics of a particular aquatic biota with the principles of the architectural approach itself, which is created by applying the forms, living systems, survival methods of aquatic organisms.
