This script involves Khat or Arabic calligraphy, which has appeared since the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Calligraphy enthusiasts in Pekanbaru have been increasing since calligraphy was made one of the branches in the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) competition. In addition to attracting enthusiasts, it has also succeeded in bringing up new seeds from schools, pesantren, and universities.
