Objektifikasi Perempuan Dalam Relasi Kuasa (Studi Terhadap Empat Perempuan Pada Kasus Pelecehan Seksual di Pekanbaru)
This thesis discusses about the sexual harassment against four women in the Pekanbaru City. In this thesis, the researcher emphasizes discussing aspects of structural violence and power relations as causes of sexual harassment cases. Through a qualitative research approach, especially through observation and interview techniques, this thesis is aimed at exploring information regarding the main causes of cases of sexual violence experienced by four women in the Pekanbaru City.
Based on research conducted, it was found that cases of sexual violence experienced by victims were caused by the power and strength possessed by the perpetrators which made the victims helpless. This weak position of the victim is exploited by the perpetrators to pressure their victims. Sexual violence also hurts the victim in terms of identity, well-being and freedom as stated in Johan Galtung's theory about violence against women.
In the aspect of power relations, cases of sexual violence experienced by victims are caused by the position of the perpetrator being higher than the victim and having power in terms of knowledge, position, finances, etc. So that the victims who experience this incident cannot do anything. Victims are considered weak parties and therefore easily receive discriminatory treatment.
Thus, victims of sexual violence, whether female students, workers, and former inmates, are all parties who must receive serious attention. This is because they are in a position where they are easily bullied and are afraid to report the incidents their experience.
