This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach, which means using qualitative data and presented descriptively. To collect data using observation, interview and documentation methods. The results showed that the sea tribe community of Lipan Island parented early childhood in a democratic way. Parents give children the freedom to engage in activities and decision-making (democratic). However, parents also adopt other parenting patterns besides democratic, namely using authoritarian parenting when children behave not in accordance with their expectations and giving punishment if children make mistakes. The characteristics of children's personality as a result of parenting patterns applied by parents are that children have the characteristics of responsibility, independence, courage, mutual respect, appreciation, and cooperation with family and others. In addition, children's personality characteristics that emerge as a result of parents adopting different parenting styles are that children become insecure and less able to make their own decisions because they are always directed by their parents. This makes it difficult for children to interact with their surroundings.
