Pengembangan Modul Elektronik Berbasis Education For Sustainable Development (ESD) untuk Peningkatan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Dan Sikap Peduli Lingkungan Mahasiswa Pada Mata Kuliah Ekologi Lahan Basah
The 21st century is also known as the era of science and communication. To face the challenges of the 21st century, quality human resources are needed through the education sector. This research aims to determine the validity, practicality and improvement of students' critical thinking skills and environmental care attitudes by using teaching materials for wetland ecology modules based on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) on typology, damage and restoration of wetland ecosystems.
In this research, the module development used Research & Development through the ADDIE approach in the FKIP UNRI Masters Program. The module validation stage involved 2 subjects (1 environmental expert lecturer, one education expert lecturer. Feasibility assessment by experts using a validation sheet. Test stage limited trial involving 21 Biology Education students at FKIP Riau University who took the Wetland Ecology course. Assessment of the practicality of the module using questionnaire responses, namely student responses. Data analysis using descriptive analysis assisted by Microsoft Office Excel 2013. Assessment of students' critical thinking using before and after questions treatment while assessing attitudes towards the environment using a questionnaire. Data analysis using the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 20 software.
The research results obtained are as follows: (1) the validation value of material and education experts for the development of electronic modules based on Education for Sustainable Development is classified as very valid based on material aspects (4.70) and education (4.69); (2) practicality test results from lecturers and students who have taken wetland ecology courses show that the module is very practical with average scores for lecturers and students respectively 87.95% and 85.75%. (3) The results of limited trials on students showed very good results with an average score of 83.15%. (4) Assessment of students' critical thinking was carried out through pretest (before the experiment) and posttest (after the experiment) assessments, showing that there was an increase in pretest and posttest scores. The pretest mean score was 70.47 with good criteria, while the posttest mean was 84.28 with very good criteria. (4) Assessment of students' environmentally conscious cognitive attitudes is also carried out during operational trials of the module by distributing questionnaires before and after learning. The results of the analysis showed that there was an increase in the value of students' environmentally caring cognitive attitude in the pretest and posttest. The value of students' environmentally caring cognitive attitude in the pretest from 3.34 with moderately caring criteria to 4.3 with caring criteria in the posttest.
The conclusion of this research is that the development of an Agricultural Wetland Ecology module based on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as teaching material on typology, damage and restoration material is very valid and the use of the module developed can improve students' critical thinking and environmental care attitudes.
