Prarancangan Pabrik Vinil Klorida Proses Klorinasi Langsung dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor Pyrolysis Furnace (H-101)
Vinyl chloride is a colorless, gaseous, and highly flammable chlorinated hydrocarbon compound with the molecular formula C2H3Cl. Vinyl chloride is used in the polymer industry, such as making polyvinyl chloride (PVC). PVC is widely used as a plastic material, adhesive layer, and pipe. The raw material used in making vinyl chloride are ethylene and chlorine. The direct chlorination process of ethylene to vinyl chloride is the selected process for this plant. Vinyl chloride plant is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with capacity of 350.000 tons/year which will be established in Serang Regency, Banten Province. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (Ltd) with a line and staff organization system. The employee work system is based on the division of working hours consisting of shift employee and non-shift employee. Major design in this plant is a pyrolysis furnace reactor (H-101) which aims to pyrolyze ethylene chloride into vinyl chloride with a conversion of 54%. This reactor operates at a temperature of 500oC and a pressure of 26 bar. Economic analysis in this vinyl chloride plant design shows that this plant is feasible to be established with a Break Even Point (BEP) value of 55% and Payback Period (PBP) of 1,13 years. Return of Investment (ROI) value of 84,08% and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) value of 22,63%.
