Peran Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) Dalam Pengembangan Objek Wisata Air Terjun Sungai Kandi Di Kecamatan Hulu Kuantan Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi

This research was conducted in Sungai Kelelawar Village, Hulu Kuantan District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The research objectives are: 1) to determine the role of POKDARWIS in developing the Kandi River waterfall tourist attraction. 2) to find out the efforts made by POKDARWIS in carrying out its role in developing the Kandi River waterfall tourist attraction. 3) to find out what is preventing POKDARWIS from carrying out its role in developing the Kandi River waterfall tourist attraction. This research used a descriptive qualitative method by taking 10 people as informants, namely 7 members of POKDARWIS, 1 person from the community, 1 person from the village government and 1 person visitors. This research uses a purposive method and uses observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results of this research show that POKDARWIS as the manager and developer of the Sungai Kandi Waterfall tourist attraction has duties and carries out the potential that exists in Sungai Kelelawar Village, Hulu Kuantan District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. POKDARWIS has a role as a driver of tourism awareness, capturing the charm of the regional environment in tourist destinations. The normative roles that emerge in implementation in the field start from a) the educational role is an invitation and appeal to preserve nature b) the control role is POKDARWIS as a manager in maintaining the beauty of tourist areas c) the information role as a provider of information and a means of communication about everything related with tourist attractions. The development of this tourist attraction is greatly influenced by the performance carried out by POKDARWIS as a manager in managing tourism. Internal obstacles are experienced by POKDARWIS such as a lack of skills and understanding of members in carrying out their role as POKDARWIS as well as other activities outside of POKDARWIS activities. External obstacles come from natural disasters and lack of support from the government.
