Kehidupan Martarombo Pada Mahasiswa Batak Toba Di Universitas Riau
This research was conducted at the University of Riau, which aims to find out what is behind Batak Toba students at Riau University implementing the martarombo kinship tradition and to describe the application of the martarombo tradition as a form of social interaction in the lives of Batak Toba people, especially for Batak Toba student at University of Riau. This research method uses descriptive qualitative with data collection methods through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. In the analysis of research observations, it shows that achieving the establishment of the martarombo tradition is determined by the existence of social actions and their implementation as part of the social interaction process. Based on the findings of the research, it shows that the background behind Batak Toba students at the University of Riau carrying out the martarombo tradition is because of the emergence of a pure inner bond between fellow Batak Toba students at UNRI or what is known in sociology, namely the form of gemeinschaft (community). They do it because it is based on the desire to seek and establishing kinship ties with other Batak Toba students at UNRI so that the result of carrying out this martarombo tradition is the emergence of closeness and familiarity between them to help and look after each other like siblings. The martarombo tradition, which is still carried out by Batak Toba student alumni at the University of Riau, is also a form concrete action in establishing the martarombo tradition as part of traditional actions because it has a positive meaning for the Batak Toba community, including to form social awereness and solidarity in the lives of Batak Toba students at the University of Riau.
