Fungsi Tradisi Tor-Tor Dan Status Sosial Dalam Pernikahan Adat Batak Mandailing Di Kabupaten Padang Lawas
This research aims to find out in depth the Tor-tor Tradition, functions and social status inherent in Mandailing Batak Traditional marriages in Padang Lawas Regency, North Sumatra. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques, in-depth interviews and documentation. The result of this Ttor-tor Tradition process at Mandailing Batak weddings in Padang Lawas Regency has several stages, namely, Pokat menek/Tahi sapanggodangan (deliberation of the family and closest relatives), Pokat godang/Tahi marhuta (deliberation of one village/villages), Mangalo-alo mora (welcoming distinguished guest and guest of kings), Traditional assembly/maralok-alok (continuation of the mangalo-alo mora event), Tor-tor suhut kahanggi, Tor-tor anak boru, Tor-tor mora Harajaon, Bujing blood Tor-tor and bride Tor-tor. The function of the Tor-tor tradition is seen from the slaughter of animals and patuaekkon, it functions for the bride and groom because at that time the bride gets the tradition title given by Harajaon, other forms of the Tor-tor appearance also have many functions including the function pf knowing speech/ethics in the community and Bujing’s blood Tor-tor serves to indicate that there are still successors in the village. The social status inherent in the Tor-tor tradition process, namely that people who do not have a name according to custom and are prohibited from entering Galanggang Siriaon as Panortor.
