Identifikasi Jenis Dan Kelimpahan Mikroplastik Pada Sedimen Di Pantai Kota Padang Sumatera Barat
Plastic waste in the sea can have a pollution impact, where light plastic can easily be carried by currents and waves in the water column and accumulate in sediment. Plastic waste takes a long time to decompose depending on its composition and environmental conditions. This research was carried out using a survey method at three different stations in the coastal waters of Padang City, West Sematra Province with the aim of determining the type and abundance of microplastics in the sediment. Differences in microplastic abundance between stations were tested using One-Way ANOVA, while differences between zones (dry zone and wet zone) and between depths (0-10 cm and 10-20 cm) were analyzed using the Independent Samples T-test. There were 3 types of microplastics found, namely fibers, fragments and films with an average total of 100.55 particles/kg. The highest abundance of microplastics was found at the estuary of Ulak Karang Beach (129.16 particles/kg), while the lowest was found at Banana Beach, which had minimal anthropogenic activity. There were significant differences (p
