Analisis Keberlanjutan Pengelolaan Kawasan Konservasi Penyu Di Pantai Pasir Jambak Kota Padang Provinsi Sumatera Barat
Pasir Jambak Beach is one of the conservation areas located in Pasie Nan Tigo Village, Padang City. This area has an agenda with the conservation of sea turtles and their ecosystems. However, the unenvironmentally practices in the area were still egoisting im the forms of egg exploitation and trading, as well as beach pollution. Those had the impact on the existence of sea turtles that nesting on Pasir Jambak Beach. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the management of the Pasir Jambak beach turtle conservation area from the ecological, economic, social, and infrastructure dimensions. The research used a Multidimensional scaling (MDS) approach using a tool called RapConservation modified from the RapFish (Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries) programme. The sustainability status of the ecological dimension is categorised as moderately sustainable (65.64%), the economic dimension as less sustainable (43.81%), the social dimension as moderately sustainable (61.65%), the infrastructure dimension as less sustainable (36.01%), and the multidimensional sustainability status is categorised as moderately sustainable (50.07%). Ecological dimension strategies include rehabilitating coastal vegetation by planting abrasion-resistant species. Social dimension strategies increase the frequency of education and counselling on sea turtle conservation. Economic dimension strategies include developing ecotourism potential with a focus on turtle conservation as a tourist destination, providing opportunities and training for fishermen in fishing. Infrastructure dimension strategies include improving the availability of facilities and infrastructure and conducting regularly scheduled turtle release activities or programmes involving community and tourist participation.
