The Effectiveness Of Using Memrise Application To Enhance The Second Grade Smpit Al Fityah Pekanbaru Students’ Vocabulary Mastery
Vocabulary plays a crucial function in learning English because it is the component
that connect 4 language abilities are reading, writing , speaking, and listening. Therefore,
teaching techniques are needed to teach vocabulary appropriately. Students can improve
their vocabulary through many platforms in this technological era, including the Memrise
application. The objective of this study is to find out the effectiveness of using memrise
application to enhance the Second grade of SMPIT Alfityah Pekanbaru students
Vocabulary mastery. This research used quantitative experimental method design with a
sample size of 51 eight-grade students of SMPIT AlFityah Pekanbaru. This study was
divided into two classes: control and experimental. First, students will take a pre-test to
determine their initial vocabulary mastery. The post-test was conducted after four treatment
meetings, in which the Memrise application was used as a supporting tool in learning
Vocabulary in the experimental class. This research used SPSS 25 to analyze the data and
Independent sample T-Test are used. The results of this study showed that the significance
was 0,000. It was less than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). So the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is
accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In other words, using the Memrise
application can enhancing eighth-grade of SMPIT Al Fityah Pekanbaru students’
vocabulary mastery.
