Prarancangan Pabrik Pembuatan Isopropil Alkohol Dengan Proses Hidrasi Langsung Dengan Desain Alat Utama Flash Separator 2 Fasa (Sp-101)
Isopropyl alcohol (C3H7OH) is a colorless, volatile and flammable liquid. Isopropyl alcohol has various uses, both as a final product and intermediate. Some examples of isopropyl alcohol as a final product are: as a solvent, the manufacture of chemicals in agriculture, additives in medicines, and antiseptic ingredients. As an intermediate product, isopropyl alcohol is used for the production of acetone, metal isobutyl ketone, metal isobutyl carbinol, isopropylamine, and isopropyl acetate. Isopropyl alcohol is the results of a reaction between propylene and water that occurs in a fixed bed reactor containing an Amberlyst catalyst that operates non-isothermally and non-adiabatically with a temperature of 145.67℃ and a pressure of 80 atm. The reaction that occurs is exothermic so that dowtherm cooling is needed in the reactor so that the temperature is maintained in the reaction temperature range. This plant will be established in Pabeanilir, Pasekan, Kabutan Indramayu, West Java with a production capacity of 50000 tons/year. The plant operation runs 24 hours/day for 330 days in each year, and the employee work system is shift and non-shift based on the division of working hours. Based on the results of the plant economic feasibility analysis, this isopropyl alcohol plant is feasible with a PBP value of 1.044 years, IRR of 22.753%, ROI of 77.107%, and BEP of 30%.
