Hubungan Kandungan Bahan Organik Total Sedimen Dengan Kelimpahan Makrozoobentos Di Muara Batang Arau Kota Padang Provinsi Sumatera Barat

This study aims to determine the relationship between total sediment organic matter content and macrozoobenthos abundance, and community structure in Muara Batang Arau Padang City, West Sumatra Province. This research was conducted in December 2023-February 2024, The research used Purpossive sampling Data was analysed by using that were observed . Parameters in the study included species identification, abudance, diversity, uniformity and dominance. Water quality parameters were also studied. The results indicated that the water quality in the Batang Arau Estuary can support the life of macrozoobenthos. Macrozoobenthos found in the area were consisting of Gastropods and Bivalvia in weach each comprises five and two Families respectively. Families from the Gastropods were Ellobiidae, Pachychilidae, Babyloniidae, Neritidae and Planorbidae, while two families from the Bivalvies class were Psammobiidae and Tellinidae. The species of Gastropods were Belongkeng sp, Faunus ater, Babylonia spirata, Neritina turrita and Helisoma trivolvis. Bivalve class consists of two species, namely Hiatula diphos and Tellina tenuis. The highest abundance of macrozoobenthos was found in station 1 then followed by station 2, and station 3, while station 4 has a very low abundance value. The species uniformity index is in a balanced state, and there was no dominant species. Macrozoobenthos distribution pattern at each station is categorized as clustered. Between the total organic matter content of sediments with macrozoobenthos abundance there was a very strong relationship, where the total organic matter content of sediments greatly affected the abundance of macrozoobenthos.
