Indonesia is a developing country and focuses on carrying out various kinds of development and improvement, especially in the industrial sector. One of the development focusessector industry is the polymer production industry. Currently, many of the polymer raw materials used come from imports, making the price of goods expensive. The effort to overcome dependence on polymer imports is by establishing factories to meet domestic needs. Apart from that, this industry is expected to increase the country's foreign exchange, be able to absorb labor so that it can reduce unemployment and poverty. The polymer industry is one of the basic materials industries used to produce household appliances, clothing and other daily necessities. One of the basic materials used for the polymer industry is Dimethyl Terephthalate (DMT). DMT isdimethyl ester from the processing of Terephthalic Acid (AT) which has been esterified using methanol. Dimethyl Terephthalate (DMT) is an intermediate product used as a basic material for making Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) andPolybutylene Terephthalate (PBT). PET and PBT production is used as raw materials for the manufacture of polyester fiber, textiles, polyester films, solvent free coatings, bottle resin, and more. Because the functions and uses of DMT are numerous, a DMT factory design was made with a capacity of 200,000 tonnes/year located in the Cilegon Industrial Estate Area. Based on the results of the economic analysis, the Gross Profit Margin (GPM) was obtained at IDR 86,127.82/kg. Fixed Capital Investment (FCI) obtained through calculations was IDR 396,703,754,073, production costs were IDR 34,906,826,327,552, payout period 2.09 years, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) 22.75%, Return of Investment 43.89%, Break Even Point 50%.
