The need for polyvinyl alcohol in Indonesia is increasing every year. Based on polyvinyl alcohol import data in the last 5 years (2015-2019), the need for polyvinyl alcohol in Indonesia in 2019 increased to 1073,547 tonnes/year (Central Statistics Agency, 2022). Indonesia imports poly(vinyl) alcohol from several industries in the world. Until now, no polyvinyl alcohol factory has been established in Indonesia. A study of the feasibility of building a polyvinyl alcohol factory is necessary for the purpose of analyzing the feasibility of investment. The analysis was carried out quantitatively based on the criteria of NPV, IRR, ROI, PBP, BEP, and sensitivity analysis. The study results show that a polyvinyl alcohol factory is feasible to build with a production capacity of 150,000 tons/year. Based on non-financial analysis consisting of market, environment, management and law, there are no obstacles that hinder the construction and operation of the factory. Based on financial analysis, factory construction can be carried out with an NPV value of IDR 437,934,554,165; ROI “48.639%,” PBP 1.16 years; The BEP is 40%, and the IRR is 22.78%, which is higher than BRI's RRR value of 22.55%, so this polyvinyl alcohol factory is suitable to proceed to the development stage.
