Kombinasi Serbuk Buah Jabon Putih (Anthocephalus Cadamba Miq.) Dengan Air Gambut Sebagai Adsorben Zat Warna Rhodamin B
White jabon fruit powder (Anthocephalus cadamba Miq.) activated with NaOH and combined with humic acid from peat water has been investigated for its ability to be used as a biosorbent due to the large surface area and many functional groups contained in humic acid and jabon fruit which is used as a solid supporting humic acid. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum biosorbent dosage, pH, pHpzc and contact time of jabon fruit powder in adsorption of Rhodamine B. The method used in this research is adsorption method using batch system. The effect of biosorbent dosage (0.25; 0.5; 0.75; 1.0 and 1.25 g), solution pH (2, 4, 6 and 8), pHpzc (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12) and contact time (20, 30, 40 and 50 minutes) were studied for adsorption of Rhodamin B by jabon fruit powder. Characterization of biosorbent to determine iodine adsorption capacity and methylene blue adsorption capacity was compared with SNI No. 06-3730-1995. Jabon fruit powder before activation and after combination with peat water was analyzed by SEM-EDS to determine the morphology and elements contained in the biosorbent. Jabon fruit powder before activation, after combination with peat water and after adsorption was analyzed by FTIR to determine the functional groups contained in the biosorbent. The concentration of Rhodamine B was analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Adsorption kinetics was determined by first-order pseudo kinetics model, second-order pseudo kinetics and intraparticle diffusion kinetics. The results obtained showed that the adsorption of Rhodamine B by jabon fruit powder obtained the best biosorbent dose of 1.0 g, the best solution pH of 2, pHpzc of 6.7 and optimum contact time of 40 minutes with adsorption efficiency of 98.76% and adsorption capacity of 2.4540 mg/g. The adsorption kinetics model is second-order pseudo kinetics with R2=1 value and rate constant value of 0.3375 g/mg min which indicates that the interaction between jabon fruit powder biosorbent and Rhodamine B is responsible for the adsorption process.
