Isolasi Dan Uji Toksisitas Metabolit Sekunder Ekstrak N-Heksana Dari Benalu Jambu Air (Dendrophthoe Pentandra (L.) Miq.)
Water apple mistletoe (Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq.) is a plant from the Loranthaceae family which has been proven as a medicinal plant. This study aimed to isolate and characterize secondary metabolites from n-hexane extract of D. pentandra and to test the toxicity using the brine shrimp lethality test (BSLT) method. The sample was macerated using methanol as solvent, then partitioned with n-hexane and ethyl acetate as solvent. Isolation of compounds from n-hexane extract of D. pentandra using gravity column chromatography produced 7 fractions. Fraction 2 was recrystallized and a white solid of 21 mg was obtained, coded DP-H-F2. The DP-H-F2 compound has a melting point of 190oC-192oC. Characterization of the compound using UV-Vis spectrophotometer showed no absorption at a wavelength of 200-400 nm, while the IR spectrum results showed the presence of wave numbers at absorption of 3476 cm-1 (O-H), 2929-2870 cm-1 (C-H aliphatic), 1451 cm-1 (CH2), 1385 cm-1, (CH3) and 1260 (C-O). Based on the characterization results, the DP-H-F2 compound is a secondary metabolite compound in the terpenoid group. The results of the toxicity test using the BSLT method showed that the n-hexane extract of D. pentandra was non-toxic with an LC50 value > 1000 ppm.
