The selection of movies services is a decision taken by FISIP University of Riau students in choosing between watching through streaming services or cinema viewing services, taking into account various factors that affect the choice. This study aims to reveal the internal and external factors of students choosing movie viewing services using popular culture theory. The method used is a descriptive quantitative method, with data collection through questionnaires or questionnaires that are shared directly and online (Google Form). The results of the study show that the majority of FISIP students at the University of Riau choose legal streaming services, WeTV streaming services as the most popular services. In addition, cinemas are also a popular choice among students. The most popular cinema among students is CGV Transmart Pekanbaru. The internal factor that most affects the decision to watch movies among FISIP University of Riau students is interest. The high interest shows that individual preferences play a huge role in determining the choice of movie viewing services. On the other hand, the most influential external factor is lifestyle. These external factors suggest that the choice of watching movies is also influenced by social trends and the way students identify with themselves in a social environment.
