This research is entitled “Analysis of Social Action and Environmental Ethics in the Practice of Sterilization on Cat Pets in Pekanbaru City” which aims to identify social actions contained in the practice of sterilization and analyze related environmental ethics. This research uses a qualitative approach with a sampling method through in-depth interviews with five informants who are cat pet owners who have performed sterilization. In its analysis, this study uses Max Weber's theory of social action and the concept of environmental ethics. The results showed that the practice of sterilization on pet cats in Pekanbaru City is classified as instrumental rational social action. In addition, the analysis of environmental ethics reveals that the sterilization practice is more inclined toward anthropocentrism environmental ethics, where actions are carried out for the benefit of humans in controlling animal populations and maintaining the balance of ecosystems in urban environments.
