Prarancangan Pabrik Benzotriklorida Dari Toluen Proses Klorinasi Dengan Desain Alat Utama Hcl Absorber (T-102)
Benzotrichloride was a derivative of toluene. Benzotrichloride was widely used in the synthetic dye industry, organic synthesis, as an intermediate in the chemical industry, in the production of benzoyl chloride, chlorinated toluenes, benzotrifluoride, benzoic acid, and as an intermediate for dyes. The demand for benzotrichloride in Indonesia and globally continued to increase, giving the benzotrichloride industry a promising outlook for the future. The process used in the preliminary design of the benzotrichloride plant was the chlorination process. Benzotrichloride was synthesized from toluene, which was reacted with chlorine gas at a temperature of 70°C and a pressure of 1 atm in a batch reactor with the aid of light to enhance the chlorination rate. The economic analysis of the plant showed a return on investment (ROI) of 27.91%, a payback period (PBP) of 2 years and 8 months, an internal rate of return (IRR) of 22.72%, and a break-even point (BEP) of 40%. Based on this economic analysis, it could be concluded that a benzotrichloride plant from toluene using the chlorination process was feasible to establish.
