PT Perkebunan Nusantara V is a state-owned company which has been concentrating on operating oil palm and rubber plantations as its main business. The company has taken a number of steps to improve its performance, such as increasing the quantity and quality of the products it produces, such as Ribbed Smoked Sheet (RSS), Standard Indonesia Rubber 10/20 (SIR 10/20), Palm Kernel Meal (PKM), Palm Kernel Oil ( PKO), Palm Oil (CPO), and palm kernel. It is hoped that these commodities can be sold and promoted with the best results if the production quality complies with national and international standards. Where the source of supply is 60% from Core Gardens and 40% from Plasma Farmer Gardens which are managed using a partnership pattern.
Based on the phenomenon, the number of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) sourced from core plantations, plasma plantations and third parties (independent smallholders) from 2013-2022 continues to experience production shortages. When viewed in 2015-2019 the number of FFB from third parties (swadaya farmers) fluctuated, even when viewed from the number of purchases in 2013 and 2015, the number of purchases that occurred afterwards was not able to reach the amount in that year. In an effort to increase production sourced from plasma farmers, PTPN V carried out a partnership strategy to attract plasma farmers to partner again..
This research aims to examine and analyze the influence of partnership patterns and quality management on competitive advantage. The research results show that partnership strategy has an influence on competitive advantage. This shows that partnership strategy is an important variable that is the main capital in business so that it influences the competitive advantage variable. Furthermore, these results can be interpreted that the feasibility assessment strategy for potential partners, the feasibility assessment strategy for the value of visionary capital, the partner empowerment strategy, the partner palm plantation management strategy and the better partnership strategy with universities will be able to increase competitive advantage. Quality management influences competitive advantage. The business carried out by PT.Perkebunan Nusantara V Riau Province is improving quality that focuses on customers, to meet customer needs, this aims to ensure that each member is able to make quick and correct decisions so that work can be completed efficiently. This means that quality management is very important in determining competitive advantage. With good management, competitive advantage will also improve. Quality management influences company performance. PT. Perkebunan Nusatara V has carried out sustainable rejuvenation of smallholder palm oil, one of the important obsessions with the quality of the FFB produced in the hope that the company's performance will increase. This shows that quality management is very important in determining company performance. Partnerships have no effect on company performance. The strategy in managing partner oil palm plantations with management of core plantations is very important, which can be done by rejuvenating smallholder oil palms in a sustainable manner, however, not all of the strategies implemented can work well so they have less impact on company performance. This shows that partnerships have no influence on company performance. Competitive advantage has an influence on company performance, this shows that competitive advantage is an important variable which is the main capital in business so that it influences the company's performance variables. Furthermore, these results can be interpreted to mean that productivity is above standard, something that is important for customers, is an organization that is strong, healthy and accountable for providing profits, is an organization that continues to experience growth and prioritizes efficiency in achieving goals. Partnership strategy has a significant effect on company performance through competitive advantage. This means that a successful partnership strategy involves implementing a business plan that involves two or more parties working together over a period of time to achieve mutual benefits based on the idea of progress and mutual needs. This shows that a good partnership, followed by a good competitive advantage will lead to increased company performance. Quality management has a significant effect on company performance through competitive advantage. This means that PT. Perkebunan Nusatara V prioritizes efficiency in achieving goals, this is of course expected so that the results obtained are as expected. This means that better quality management and competitive advantage will improve company performance.
