Analisis Perilaku Self-Harm Pada Siswa SMPN 17 Pekanbaru Dan Implementasinya Dalam Bimbingan Konseling
Adolescence is a crucial developmental stage marked by significant psychological and physical changes. During this period, some adolescents engage in self-harm as a way to cope with emotional pain or distress. This behavior is prevalent across various social groups, including among students at SMPN 17 Pekanbaru. The research titled Analysis of Self-Harm Behavior Among Students at SMPN 17 Pekanbaru and Its Implementation in Guidance Counseling aims to explore the forms of self-harm exhibited by students, the underlying factors contributing to this behavior, and how guidance counseling can be applied to address the issue.
This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, involving five students from SMPN 17 Pekanbaru aged 13-15 years who had engaged in self-harm within the past three months. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and were validated using triangulation. The findings reveal that the students engaged in self-harm by cutting or carving shapes on their wrists, with low intensity and non-repetitive actions. Contributing factors include social media, the social environment, and family issues. The consequences of self-harm include physical injuries, psychological effects such as shame and guilt, as well as academic and social challenges. A lack of emotional support from parents, feelings of undervaluation, and social isolation were common among the informants, which pushed them to seek self-harm as a coping mechanism.
