Karakteristik Morfologi Belangkas Mangrove (Carcinoscorpius Rotundicauda) Di Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir, Riau

The waters of Kuala Selat Village are located facing the Strait of Melaka but the waters of Belaras Village are adjacent to Pulau Cawan Village. The difference in the position of the two waters in the two villages is thought to affect the morphology of aquatic organisms, especially mangrove horseshoe crab (Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda). This study aimed to compare morphology characters of female C. rotundicauda between two villages and morphology characters of male C. rotundicauda between two villages. Sampling was conducted in February 2024 in the waters of Belaras Village and Kuala Selat Village. Samples were taken from fishermen's bycatch. Morphology observations include 40 morphometric characters, meristic characteristics namely the number of marginal spines on the right opisthosoma and the number of marginal spines on the left opisthosoma, and carapace color in male and female C. rotundicauda (n=10 each). The t-test analysis used SPSS version 17. While the carapace color of C. rotundicauda used the munsell color chart application.
