Analisis Jaringan Komunikasi Pekebun Karet Pola Swadayapada Pemasaran Karet Di Kelurahan Banjar Xii Kecamatan Tanah Putih

Banjar XII is one of the villages in Tanah Putih Sub-district, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province, where rubber plants are the main source of income for most of the community. In recent years, rubber farmers in Banjar XII Village have been faced with various problems that affect their ability to market their crops. One of the main problems is the high dependency of the planters on middlemen in marketing their crops. Due to the dominant role of middlemen, smallholders lack strong bargaining power and often receive lower prices than they should. Based on this phenomenon, the objectives of this study are: 1) Identifying the characteristics of smallholders, 2) Analyzing communication network patterns, 3) Analyzing individual-level communication networks, and 4) Analyzing actor roles. This research was conducted in Banjar XII Village, Tanah Putih Subdistrict, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The population in this study were self-help pattern rubber planters and actors involved in rubber marketing in Banjar XII Village. The sampling method used in this research is a non-probability sampling technique consisting of snowball sampling technique. The data analysis used was descriptive analysis, sociometric analysis using UCINET VI, individual network analysis using UCINET VI, and actor determination using UCINET VI and Microsoft Excel. The results of the research can be concluded that based on the internal characteristics of age dominated by productive category planters, namely age 15-64, the latest high school education, the number of dependents as many as 3-4 people, length of experience > 18 years, and the average land area of 2 Ha. The external characteristics of smallholders, namely interaction with extension workers/companions are in the high category, understanding of the material and the amount of information and communication media are in the high category, as well as the amount of information known and the source of information providers are in the high category. The communication network pattern formed in Kelurahan Banjar XII is an all-channel pattern. The roles of actors in the Banjar XII Village communication network for rubber planters' marketing are star, opinion leader, bridge, laisson officer, cosmopolite, and gate keeper. The position of the actors can be described in a Cartesian diagram, namely quadrant I is occupied by actors MA and MN; quadrant II is occupied by actors DN, RN, IR, AM, GN, AR, SP, DN, and RU; quadrant III is occupied by actors JO, PY, RS, MT, LI, RA, SU, RO, and ID; quadrant IV is occupied by actors SA, SI, JU, UD, KA, JK, PO, SE, MN,and SG. Actors DN, RN, IR, AM, GN, AR, SP, DN, and RU are considered to have a high value in the individual-level network in terms of degree centrality, closeness, and betweenness centrality.
