Penerimaan Stereotip Pada Janda Muda Di Kelurahan Gajah Sakti Kecamatan Mandau Kabupaten Bengkalis
This study aims to determine the forms of stereotypes received by young widows and how young widows respond to stereotypes received in Gajah Sakti Village, Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency with the Looking Glass Self Theory approach by Charles Horton Cooley. This type of research based on the data collection method is field research. Data collection techniques were obtained by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation using the Miles Huberman model of qualitative data analysis. The technique of determining informants is determined in a planned manner using Purposive Sampling technique. The subjects in this study amounted to 10 people consisting of 6 main informants with the criteria of young widows who had been divorced for 6 months to 5 years and 4 additional informants. The results showed that there are stereotypes accepted by young widows, namely in the social aspect: seductive women, underage widows (mushrooms), pretentious widows. Stereotypes in cultural aspects: people who do not know customs, women who do not obey religion. Stereotypes on economic aspects viz: poor widows, people who are pitied, need help, looking for new partners (boyfriends) for economic interests. Stereotypes in the sexual aspect are: used women, women who can be used, cheap women. Young widows respond to the labels they receive in a passive way such as: feeling ashamed, feeling down/hopeless (wanting to end their lives), withdrawing from society (not participating in social activities), stopping working at the old place and starting to work alone, adjusting to the labels received. Being pro-active is in ways such as: increasing self-competence by attending training, working, and participating in social activities.
