Dinamika Mata Pencaharian Suku Talang Mamak Di Desa Sungai Ekok Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu
Massive land clearing has changed the pattern of life of the Talang Mamak Tribe in Sungai Ekok Village by eliminating their traditional sources of livelihood. Based on this condition, the research was conducted with the aim of understanding the factors that influence changes in the livelihoods of the Talang Mamak Tribe in Sungai Ekok Village. In addition, this research will also explore how these indigenous people adapt to their shifting livelihoods. Through qualitative research with purposive sampling method, it was found that their livelihood shift was influenced by several factors: the success of neighboring villages in palm oil cultivation, the decline of forest products, and the fall of rubber prices. This prompted the Talang Mamak community to switch their farming profession to palm oil. This study reveals three main triggers of change: forest degradation, economic pressure, and palm oil success stories, where in the face of these changes, the Talang Mamak community shows comprehensive adaptability by utilizing the five capital assets they have.
