ABSTRACT This purpose of this study to analyze the role of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in increasing Village Original Income (PADes) in Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency. The focus of the research is to compare the role of Local-type and Transmigration-type BUMDes in Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency. The research used purposive sampling technique so that 4 BUMDes were obtained, each represented by Dundangan Village and Terantang Manuk Village (Tempatan), as well as Harapan Jaya Village and Sialang Indah Village (Transmigration), with an observation year of 5 years so that a total of 20 data observations were obtained. The methods employed were descriptive quantitative and qualitative analysis, supported by contribution analysis and the non-parametric Independent Sample 2 Test. The results reveal that both local-type and transmigration-type BUMDes play significant roles as facilitators, mediators, motivators, and catalysts in enhancing PADes. Local-type BUMDes emphasize managing local potential based on indigenous wisdom, while transmigration-type BUMDes focus on business diversification to support economic integration. Statistical analysis indicates no significant difference in the contribution of the two types of BUMDes to PADes, as both types share similar roles on average. These findings highlight the importance of strategic management and collaboration in optimizing the contributions of BUMDes to village independence.
